STEMI is a learning experience. It is the robot that will teach you many scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical concepts in a fun and easy way. It will come to you as a set of components, along with multimedia lessons to teach you how to assemble it and bring it to life. Along the way, you will acquire knowledge that will get you ready to shape our future. And on top of it all, once you have built your STEMI, you will officially have the coolest toy in the universe!
Who is it for?
Building STEMI hexapod is a great scientific adventure for anyone from age 13 and up. It is equally engaging for the children as well as for the most hardcore tinkerers and backyard inventors.

By building STEMI you will learn 3D modelling, electronics, arduino programming and mobile app programming.
Since we strongly believe that knowledge should be available to everyone, we will make the entire platform Open Access. Also, we made all the blueprints, 3D models and the source code available for everyone to use and customise.

STEMI came as a spin-off of our non-profit organisation - Bura Znanja ("Wind of Knowledge" in Croatian). We started 4 years ago, working to establish an educational technology company that will improve the society by making learning a more enjoyable experience. After many hurdles and pitfalls, we finally came across a big opportunity - that you can see coming to life in form of STEMI - Learning by Creating.

Can I make a bigger robot using your sketches and instructions?
Of course! Our designs, schematics and source code will be available for everyone so after completing our lessons you will be more than capable of building your own robot no matter how bigger it is than the original.
What if a servo motor brakes?
Even though our servo motors have been thoroughly tested and will last all kinds of stress, accidents can always happen. In case of a broken servo, don’t panic! Our lessons will show you how to make the best of the situation! You will be provided with spare parts to replace or repair a broken servo and by following the lesson you will learn about what is broken, why it is broken and how to fix it.
How long does it take to build a robot?
It all depends on you. If you’re in a hurry, you can build it from ground up in just a few hours but that’s surely not the point. Building the robot should be a fun and educational experience and our lessons will guide you through the whole process of learning and creating.
Can I build the robot even if I don’t have any experience in robotics?
Hey, this robot is made for people like you! The only thing you need is a strong will to learn and few spare hours every now and then, and you’re about to become a STEM expert :)
How often will I have to charge the battery? Is it replaceable?
Current prototype can be used for more than 90 minutes with a single charge. And that means a lot of walking and dancing! The battery could also be replaced if you find the need to.
What can I use the robot for?
You can use your robot for all kinds of things, like scaring your cat, dancing to funky beats or attaching a cool laser on it. But first you will need to go through our educational courses, so you can assemble and upgrade your robot. If you really really get tired of hexapods ( :( ), our kit has all the electronic parts for a good robotic foundation so you don’t have to worry about them collecting dust in your closet.
On what surfaces can my robot walk on?
Our robot is not designed to walk on uneven terrains because it does not have any sensors on it. So it’s terrains of choice are flat surfaces with or without small bumps it can walk over. But that does not mean we are saying it is impossible to conquer uneven terrains. We strongly encourage you to upgrade our robot with new sensors, body parts and walking algorithms so that it can do it. Otherwise, how will you walk on Mars with STEMI hexapod one day :)
